BitterSweet

They said following your dreams is hard. They said that it’s a lot of sweat, blood, and tears. They said you’ll want to quit many times. They said.... and they are right. They also said you won’t quit, you’ll keep going because of your crazy and passion. They said you will have just as much joy. They said it would be addicting to overcome hurdles and you’ll find yourself looking forward to the next challenge. They said... and they were right.

Today is a challenging day for me, but I know that today’s pain is the strength I will need tomorrow. Our sweet Kimber stopped eating and had been throwing up a little. She and Ruger took off (normal for them) and he came back alone within an hour. We haven’t seen her for 3 days now and that’s not normal. I’m feeling like we won’t see her again, but at least she was out running and chasing scents, something she lived for. Today is also the day Guinness, the sweetest and gentlest bull, went to the butcher. He was our first cow and we all had a sweet spot for him.

This is all part of it, especially when you take the role of steward over animals lives. You feel the joy of giving them the best life, and the weight of knowing when their life won’t have the same quality and that they’ve fulfilled their purpose and now they give the ultimate sacrifice, their life so that we can continue to live and take care of others. My heart hurts, but I am continuing to look forward and love all my other animals the same as these two and enjoy life with them.
